Customer type
A parking facility operator running ride-on sweepers across a mix of sealed and gravel-surfaced car parks, two shifts per day, year round.
Customization demand
The standard polypropylene side brush lost its sweeping width within three weeks on gravel and sand surfaces. Loose aggregate abraded the filament tips faster than the brush could wear evenly, and operators were compensating by lowering the brush, which accelerated the wear further. The requirement was a brush that kept its working diameter through a full season without raising drive load.

Solution

1

Filament change

Switched from standard polypropylene to a crimped nylon 6.12 filament with a larger diameter per tuft. The higher abrasion resistance and greater tuft stiffness keep the sweeping edge intact on aggregate, while the crimped form still flexes on contact with kerbs instead of snapping.

2

Tuft density and pattern

Tuft count increased by roughly 30% in the outer band, which is where a side brush does most of its work. The inner band was left lighter so the brush does not overload the drive on start-up.

3

Mounting height guidance

Supplied a setting gauge with the first order. Running the brush too low was the main reason the previous brushes died early — the recommendation is to set contact at 10-15 mm of deflection and re-check after the first week, when new filament beds in.

“We had accepted brush replacement as a monthly cost. Changing the filament and setting the height properly moved us to roughly one set per season, and the sweepers pick up grit noticeably better on the gravel areas.”
